Thank you for visiting my blog from the 2006 Blogathon.

I am no longer updating this site, but if you’re looking for information on clefts, please visit The Cleft Palate Foundation. They provide information about clefts and craniofacial anomalies, parent/patient support groups, and referrals to cleft teams in your area.

 See you next year!

1. Do you use an alarm clock to wake up?
No. I almost always wake up hours before the alarm goes off.

2. What time does your alarm go off?
Weekdays, 6:30AM. Kelly sometimes asks to sleep an extra half-hour, and I oblige her by being her snooze alarm.

3. What sound does it make?
The alarm? It plays foreverandever, etc. by David Crowder* Band.

4. Do you hit the snooze button? How many times?
As noted above, Kelly sometimes uses me as a snooze button.

5. If you have a partner, do they have a separate alarm?
Nope, just the one, since I don’t use one.

6. Does your partner get up at the same time, earlier or later?
Kelly gets up later. I generally get up between 5:00 and 6:00AM, so she sleeps anywhere from half an hour to two hours later than I do.

7. Is your clock set ahead? If so, by how much?
It’s set to “roughly standard” time. This means it could be off by as much as five minutes either way. I’m not terribly sure, since, again, I don’t use it.

8. What’s the first thing you do when you get up?
Restroom, Shower, Computer.

9. Do you eat breakfast? If so, what?
I’ve been doing slim-fast for breakfast lately, because I’m working on changing roughly two decades of very poor eating habits.

10. How long does it take you to get ready?
It doesn’t. I can be up and out of the house inside of 15 minutes if I need to be.

11. On the weekends, what time do you get up?
Same time as weekdays - I don’t descriminate. So, 5A to 6A.

12. Do you lounge or do you jump into action?
Lounge big time.

13. In an ideal world, what time would you get up?
5AM. I feel that 9PM is a good time to go to sleep, so 5A gives me a solid 8 hours of sleep.

14. How many hours of sleep do you typically get?
This is a tough one. I used to get the aforementioned 8 hours of sleep - but lately I’ve been staying up late and going to bed between 10 and 11P, so I get anywhere between 6 and 8 hours roughly.

15. How many hours of sleep do you want to get?
I’d like my 8. I don’t know why. I guess I felt that life was a little ’simpler’ when I had a set bedtime and a set out-of-bedtime.

So, even though I’m confined to the wee hours, Kelly’s seen fit to let me guest blog for a post or two. (Thanks Kelly!)

Sadly, I don’t have anything really profound to say - after all, it’s early! But, as I sit here and listen to my favorite band, I pick the music apart and I am swallowed by pure joy. I hear every nuance, every beat, every note - or at least I feel like I do, although I continually discover new aspects - and it is ambrosia to my being. I often wonder how, given a literally blank piece of paper, they came up with this composition.

I would love to learn more about the technical side of making music. What drives you?

How am I doing?

I’ve run out of things to blog about and this chair is getting a little uncomfy - I may have to go steal my Mom’s nice cushy computer chair

On the bright side, we’re half way there, I’m not tired and my tummy is full!

I’ve been messing around with the Way Back Machine and I found one of my old blogathon pages!

It’s that time!

This year, I’ve done better on supplies:

  • Yummy sausage biscuits for breakfast
  • 4 Starbucks Espresso Doubleshots
  • Fingerfoods for dinner - teriyaki chicken wings, spanikopita, fried mushrooms, hummas with pita bread
  • Tons of soda and water
  • My wonderful husband to be my gopher

I’m starting to think karaoke may not happen. I have a tremendous head-cold and I’m not sure if it’ll clear up by Saturday. If I still feel like crap, I’m going to recruit my darling husband to be my “blogging buddy”,  just in case I need a little sleep.

I’m completely speechless and COMPLETELY blown away by the generosity of my family and friends. Thank you SO much for your support!

There’s a 50 % chance that I’ll survive the ‘thon.
Will you survive the Blogathon?
Heh, 10% less than last year. I’ve never failed a blogathon, tho!

Blogathon Banner

Blogathon 2007 is here.

The Blogathon is a collection of bloggers from around the world who stay up for 24 hours to blog for charity. Each on their own blog, each for their own charity. The date this year is Saturday, July 28 starting at 9:00 am EST and going until Sunday, July 29 at 9:00 am EST.

Participants in the Blogathon (like me) are sponsored by kind souls (like you) who support the blogger’s charity and give a few of your hard-earned dollars to a very worthwhile cause. All money pledged is paid directly to the charity. Neither the blogger nor the Blogathon gets a penny. At the successful completion of the Blogathon, sponsors receive an email telling them their blogger made it and providing the information on how to pay their pledge. It is done on the honor system so no one will hunt you down to make sure you pony up.

This is my fifth year. For the second year in a row, I am blogging for the Cleft Palate Foundation.

Cleft Lip & Cleft Palate is the most common birth defect in the United States, affecting one out of every 594 newborns. That means over 6,800 babies are born each year with these conditions.

Cleft Palate Foundation operates the CLEFTLINE - 1-800-24-CLEFT - and produces free publications. The CLEFTLINE is an 800-toll free service providing information to callers about clefts and other craniofacial anomalies. Callers can request information about cleft palate/craniofacial teams and parent-patient support groups in their local region.

Now I ask you for two things.

First and most important, I ask you for your money. I have no shame. I’m looking you right in the eyes and sticking my hand out. Please sponsor me. Dig deep into your wallet and your heart and sponsor me. Sponsor the Cleft Palate Foundation and please know that no amount is too small!

Second, I ask for 5 minutes of your time. You must register to sponsor but it’s a quick and painless process with minimal info needed and it’s worth it for the end result. You can choose to remain anonymous if you so desire and I will only know that I received an anonymous pledge.

I can’t say thank you enough to anyone who sponsors me. My gratitude runs deep for you and I appreciate your generosity more than I can express.

Thank you.
